Sometimes when I get to an extremely ugly website, I wonder why it was designed that way (occasionally, I know the person who designed it that way). And the best answer I can reach is that ugly website design is an attempt to get more people to look at the comparatively tasteful advertisements.

Figured out the excessive advertisements in gmail issue. For some reason, closing Chrome and restarting didn’t make my extensions work. But rebooting Windows and starting Chrome again did. When I got into Chrome and extensions were working, the ads in gmail disappeared. So this, I thought to myself, is what non-ad-blocking people see every day.

ING Direct wants me to pay five dollars for fifty checks. USAA bank is going to send me a hundred checks for free. Looks like another reason to shift my banking towards USAA and away from ING Direct.
